"Why rescue dogs from Taiwan?" A question we hear quite often.
So, here are some answers.
We rescue dogs in Taiwan because there is a stray dog population that exceeds numbers "estimated" at over 500,000, which in reality is probably twice that. Animals are abandoned by irresponsible owners...just left in the streets to fend for themselves. Most are not spayed or neutered and the problem grows.
They need our help.
Many Taiwan Dogs are tortured, abused, trapped and mistreated in ways that are simply unbearable. Animal cruelty is unfortunately a very common part of life for a Taiwan Dog and the "shelters" in Taiwan are high kill, not humane and the conditions are abhorrent.
We rescue dogs in Taiwan because dogs matter. It's not their fault. We can help them find love, so why wouldn't we?
